Eugene Magalif

Composer Eugene Magalif (b. 1957, Vitebsk, Belarus), has lived in the USA since 1990. He graduated from Vitebsk Music College and Belarusian State Conservatory (Academy of Music). During the years in Belarus, E. Magalif became well-known for his pop-songs and music for children. Many of them were recorded by famous singers and orchestras from different countries and featured on Radio and TV. As of today, his compositions are performed in USA, Russia, Poland, Germany, France, Belarus, Ukraine, Czech Republic («Radio Liberty/Free Europe»), Finland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Israel etc. 

Eugene Magalif is the author of the musical «Swineherd», cantata «Barmaley», music for Theater, Radio, and TV, instrumental pieces, Christian music for the choir, and popular songs and ballads.His piece for flute and piano «Autumn» was chosen as mandatory piece for Children International Competition «My Favorite Flute» (Moscow, 2012). In 2012 "Spring" and "Summer" for Piano 4 hands were chosen as mandatory pieces for Children's Piano Duets Contest in Poland.

Magalif's "Colibri [Hummingbird]" for Flute and String Orchestra was already successfully performed in many countries by well-known orchestras and conductors, such as Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, California, USA (maestro Heiichiro Ohyama); "Sonorus" chamber orchestra, Belarus (maestro Aleksey Shut), Lower Silesian Philharmonic, Poland (maestro Wojciech Rodek), Academic Symphony Orchestra of Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine (maestro Vyacheslav Redya); National Academic Folk Orchestra, Belarus (maestro Alex Kremko); New Era Orchestra, Ukraine (maestro Tetyana Kalinichenko); Classic -Avantgarde, Belarus (maestro Vladimir Baidov); Gomel Symphony Orchestra, Belarus (maestro Valentin Kravtsov) etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X_sY_caCvo

One can describe the style of his music as combination of classical and pop-music, or so called «modern classical».

Maestro Yuri Temirkanov, Chief Conductor of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic Orchestra, wrote that 

"Eugene Magalif’ music is delightful, first of all in its professionalism, as well as quite amusing and witty.”

Eugene Magalif was a jury member in several competitions in Belarus. In 2008 and 2010 he was an honored guest at the International Festival «Slavianski Bazaar» in Vitebsk, Belarus.

Composer Eugene Magalif lives in New Jersey, and teaches music to public-school students.
